_Minneapolis-St. Paul Based Provider of Problem Behavior and Autism Treatment Using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Verbal Behavior (VB)
Alliant Behavioral Pediatrics (ABP) specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of children, birth to 6, with Autism or related disorders and problem behavior using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Skinner's analysis of Verbal Behavior (VB). ABA and verbal behavior therapy services are provided in home, school and community settings to clients residing in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area of MN. ABA consultative services to clients in greater MN or across the U.S. are also provided.
Behavioral Pediatrics also emphasizes prevention, early detection and intervention, whenever possible, for common problem behaviors before they progress to a formal DSM-IV-TR Disruptive Behavior (i.e., Oppositional Defiant Disorder) or other diagnosis. To achieve this goal, behavioral pediatrics provide prescriptive treatment and supportive health education to caregivers regarding typical child development. Many caregivers first seek treatment from their pediatrician for their child's common problem behaviors (i.e., temper tantrums, noncompliance, food refusal at mealtimes, thumb sucking, or bedtime problems). Alliant Behavioral Pediatrics works closely with pediatricians to be a resource for parents.
Jami Hughes, Psy.D, LP, BCBA, the founder and Executive Director at ABP, is a Licensed Psychologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Dr. Hughes has advanced training in and over 9 ½ years’ experience treating children with Autism and related disorders using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) that emphasizes Skinner’s analysis of Verbal Behavior (VB) in center, clinic and home-based settings in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area and Florida.
ALLIANT BEHAVIORAL PEDIATRICS' MISSION
ABP believes each child has a right to the most effective, research-based, behavior therapy interventions available. Our mission is to help each child achieve the highest quality of life and level of independence possible in all settings through individualized, ethical, high quality and research-based ABA therapy practices.
Active parent and other direct caregiver involvement is a necessary component in the success of a child's ABA or Verbal Behavior program and the fulfillment of ABP's mission. ABP strives to establish a close and collaborative relationship with parents to promote a cohesive, strong, treatment team. Through parent training, ABP equips parents with the tools, skills and knowledge necessary to be even more effective agents of change. ABP employs a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment and routinely works in collaboration with other professionals and caregivers, such as daycare and school staff, psychiatrists, pediatricians, and speech and occupational therapists, to include all the necessary treatment components to effectively address a child's problem behavior and/or Autism treatment needs.
